Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, I went and opened my big mouth again! Whilst chatting to my neighbour's up and coming participation in the Great North Run , I enthusiastically said that I'd always fancied doing it. Lo and behold he instantly said he would get an entry for me as he is a huge supporter of CAFOD's World Poverty campaign. After a moment's hesitation, I accepted the challenge because I believe wholeheartedly in the ethos that CAFOD follows. Their aim is to help the local people have the wherewithal to ultimately be able provide food and water for their families and villages as opposed to dropping packages of grain etc that merely feeds their hunger short term. I am utterly ashamed of the sheer food waste that Britain is now guilty of, therefore I believe if people are dying of hunger in nations where famine and drought is often rife, then I feel wholly committed to doing something about it.
So the bike is in the garage and my legs are slowly coming to terms with being asked to do something that they have definitely got out of the habit of. Numerous aches/pains/niggles worries about the distance but I'm now confident that I 'go the distance'! Thank goodness I work in a physio clinic!!
Remember, just £2 or £3 is a huge amount in the Third World. Thank you so much for you generosity.
