Story
My husband Kai and I lost our baby girl Jia Qian Lee on 30 Nov 2018 when she was nearly 31 weeks gestation, as she was diagnosed with multiple brain abnormalities. It was unimaginably difficult to go through labour and the delivery knowing that she would not be alive at the end of it.
Fortunately, we were cared for in Ocean Suite, a bereavement suite at QEQM, which is private and homely. Through this unit we were given great physical and emotional support. We were able to spend a day and a night with our beautiful sleeping angel, allowing us to say how much we love her. The support from the midwives and other staff was amazing and without this we would have faced much more pain in a normal busy maternity ward in the worst time of our lives. So in memory of Jia Qian, we are fundraising by running the Cakeathon on Monday 27th May. Each member of our team will complete as many of the 3.3 mile loops as possible, with the aim of the team completing a total of 100 miles, and we would like to ask for your support. The money to be raised will help the essential maintenance of the Ocean Suite as well as an addition of a quiet garden, all to help families going through similar difficult situations. Please give whatever you can to help.
Thank you from our hearts.
Yulan and Kai
