Story

Thanks for taking some time off from surfing the net, reading Nietzsche or grooming your monkey, to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 4th October, I will be undertaking the 13 mile Noon Walk on behalf of The Martlets Hospice (see link below):

http://themartlets.org.uk/martlets_events/challenge_events/noon_walk.php

The walk begins at Hove County ground and continues either west or eastwards (delete as applicable) to Saltdean where everybody turns round and goes back the way they came. Hopefully everybody will finish back at the start, like a faithful ostrich returning home from a hard day at work at the sausage factory.

Yes, before you ask, I am man enough to do it - my last gender test confirmed that although I have some internal female organs and have a bit of a camp gait, I am still legally classifed as a bloke. I even like football and I can drink up to 3 pints of lager in one evening without being sick.

I imagine it's going to be a little bit like participating in the Iron Man endurance event but without all that strenuous stuff like running, swimming or cycling. My own training has involved a strict regime of bouncing on my mini trampoline and watching my Darcey Bussell Pilates DVD. That's enough to get anybody out of breath.

As you can see from my picture, I am in prime physical shape so walking 13 miles shouldn't be a problem. As long as I stagger it over a number of days. My plan is to set off quickly and cover say a mile in a couple of hours, then rest for a few days in a convenient Travel Lodge or B&B. Then on Day 4, I will recommence and hope to do another 2 miles in the next week or so afterwards. At this pace I hope to eventually finish by Christmas. In 2010.

It's a good cause, so anything you can donate would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Yuey
