Story
While our world stopped turning almost one year ago, with us refocusing on our own problems and our relatives, war and misery remained the first reality of millions of humans on earth.
COVID-19 and lockdown-announces in the news unfortunately conceal(ed) the increasing violence, rapes and attacks on civilians in Ethiopia, Yemen, Soudan, Syria... prompting young people and their families to flee crisis-ridden areas. In their journey to better beginnings in which they are exposed to detention, human trafficking and sexual exploitation, they are also often prisoners of borders that remain closed in an effort to contain COVID-19. They are left at even greater risk of harm, caught between the homes they have fled and an uncertain future.
In addition, since it disrupted food supply chains, the pandemic also accelerated the risks of famine, overwhelming nations already weakened by years of conflict.
What
I'm running the 2020 Royal Parks Half Marathon. I will be fundraising for Unicef, which I chose for its wide extent of action, and the many battles it leads worldwide for gender equality, a fair life for everyone, and most of all children rights.
Help me smash their fundraising targets (min. £400/ €450 - Max.: reach for the stars ;)). Your donation will make a difference. To give you an idea, £400/€450 in sponsorship could provide a month’s supply of life-saving peanut paste to bring 17 malnourished children back to health...!
N.B.: The minimal target reach is 80%, must this target not be reached or the be event cancelled, the money will still be donated to UNICEF.
