Story
Hey everyone! We are Natalie and Sophia, hosts of the Leeds Student Radio show Mind & Soul: a show dedicated to talking about mental health, self-care, and current issues, accompanied with some of our favourite soul hits.
COVID-19 has had a significant impact on students and our mental health. Nearly three quarters (73%) of students said their mental health declined during the lockdowns, and talking about student mental health is now more important than ever. For the past academic year, our show has been dedicated to opening up conversations about mental health and breaking stigmas, and now we want to use our platform to make some substantial change.
Our event, You've Got Soul, is a soul jam-packed show, featuring our amazing guests, including mental health activist Ben West, youtuber and content creator Lydia Violeta, and lifestyle and mental health blogger Laura Norman-Phipps. Our aim is to raise money for Student Minds, the UK's student mental health charity.
Student Minds' goal is to transform the state of student mental health so that all in higher education can thrive. They support students to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support their peers and create change. They also work collaboratively with institutions, students’ unions and other organisations involved in higher education, supporting them to take a whole-university approach to mental health. We have chosen to fundraise for Student Minds as we believe it is a charity that encapsulates our values and is making significant change in universities across the country.
Join us and our special guests on Saturday 15th May at 2pm to raise money for Students Minds, a charity that works passionately to improve student mental health.
