Story
As part of the Junior Leaders course in the Air Training Corps, participants must complete a fundraising activity to support the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).
The Junior Leaders course has supported the JTYAF for many years due John Thornton (An ex marine who was killed in Afghanistan in 2008) being a graduate of the Junior Leaders Course.
The charity itself was established in the name of Marines Officer John Thornton who aimed to live his life to its maximum potential. Following his tragic death in March 2008 the foundation was set up to allow young people to "Climb as high as they can dream" and gives opportunities to those who wouldn't have these opportunities.
24.5 miles and three mountains in 12 hours
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park!
We aim to raise a minimum of £750 but obviously the more the better!
Many Thanks,
Damien Simpson, Callum Maxwell and Bradley Setchell
