Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
Later this year I will be leaving the UK and touching down in Chipata, Eastern Zambia to volunteer for an organisation called Chisomo HIV/AIDS Home Based Care (Chisomo is a Zambian word for 'grace'). My job will be to coordinate their peer education programme - triaining and supporting local volunteers to raise awareness of HIV & AIDS among young Zambians.
This is all part of VSO's Youth for Development Programme. The programme allows young people (including me!) from all corners of the world to work with local organisations in developing countries to share skills and contribute positively to development.
Most of you that know me well will know that I studied international development, that a few years ago I worked with children living and working on the streets in Zimbabwe and for the last year have been working on an access to treatment campaign for HIV/AIDS. I'm really excited about using the skills I've gained and learning much more whilst living in Zambia.
So here's the boring bit... I have to raise £900 towards the cost of the project, I'll be throwing a fundraising hat party, doing some carboot sales and lots more. I hope to see you at some of these events but please do dig deeper if you can and sponsor me online.
It costs VSO over £7000 to send a youth volunteer overseas and every penny will go towards improving the lives of those less fortunate.
I'm so grateful for all your support
