Running 460km from Madina to Makkah in July 2020, 31 July 2020
We are looking to expand the capacity of the bakery in Yemen and to install 25 tanks (75,000 liters) of clean drinking water for 25 camps. NOW INCREASED TO 35 TANKS.

Story

Alongside the 6 years of political unrest, Yemen has been devastated by one of the worst famines in the last 100 years. Furthermore, the corona virus pandemic is killing one in five people. The health facilities have been destroyed, international funds have been cut, leaving the people to survive on next to nothing.

In April 2018 myself and Amer Nazir (who cycled across the world for Mercy Worldwide charity) and 10 others trekked to Everest Base camp with your support.

In November 2018 with your kind donations and support Mercy Worldwide built and opened a bakery in Yemen to provide daily bread to needy people. Currently the bakery is providing for 3005 individuals on a daily basis.

With your help we would now like to expand the capacity of the bakery to provide for 5,250 individuals per day. Cost £3,500.

Any excess above £3,500 will go to installing 4 water tanks around different camps and distributions points in Yemen to provide clean drinking water. Each tank will provide 3,000 liters of water per day and cost £560 per tank including all the costs.

Mercy Worldwide will be working with the team on the ground in Yemen like previously and oversee the project til the end.

To raise money I pledge from 1 to 31 July 2020 to walk and run 450km which is the equivalent distance from London to Paris.

It is also the distance from Madina (where Prophet Muhammad saww and members of his holy household are buried) to Makkah (where.the holy Kabaa mosque is) completing this challenge on Eid Adha to mark the Hajj celebration on 31 July 2020.

Each day I will tick off a different km to ensure 1-30km is done each day. So far I have done:

1km - fri 3rd july

2km - fri 10th july

3km- mon 6th july

4km - sun 5th july

5km - fri 17th july
