Story
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of the most merciful, we would like to dedicate this fundraiser to our dear friends Kadri’s father Kasim who passed away the day before Ramadhan. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When a man dies, his deeds
come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)." [Muslim].
In the UK or the Western Hemisphere many of us have been abundantly lucky to have the ability to self-isolate in safety. With no concerns of when our next meal is coming from or whether we need to go into work during this pandemic. Unfortunately due to many social-economic reasons and war, the people of Yemen are suffering through violence, famine and now lack of adequate supplies to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. Children in Yemen are dying from starvation, cholera, and even recently a flood has made matters worse.
The coronavirus pandemic affects us all, but none more so than those people who are already living through conflict, disaster and poverty. Overcrowded populations and grossly inadequate `health infrastructures makes the threat of COVID-19 tearing through refugee camps and poverty-stricken areas potentially catastrophic to these already vulnerable people.
The first coronavirus case has been confirmed in Yemen. At a time when health workers worldwide are said to be on "front lines", Yemen's caregivers are bracing for yet another battle. They're always fighting outbreaks of deadly diseases including diphtheria, dengue, and in recent years, the worst outbreaks of cholera the world has ever seen. UN humanitarian co-ordinator Lise Grande said the effect of the virus in Yemen would be "catastrophic" if it spread.
If we can get ahead of the virus in Yemen and start providing testing kits from now it’ll be greatly beneficial. We have a target of £5000. £5000 will provide 100 families with hygiene and food kits. 700 Yemenis will benefit from it and an approximate of 63,000 meals would be provided. This will include hygiene and testing kits for the beneficiaries.
My friends and I appreciate any contribution or donation made, regardless of how small, or anyone spreading this fundraiser to their friends and families.
