Fundraising for The Brain Tumour Charity
After joining Lewis Moody in a trek to the North Pole and through the jungles of Costa Rica, Y.CO are once again proud to be supporting the Lewis Moody Foundation in raising vital funds for Brain Tumour research.
Charlie Birkett, Gary Wright, James Foster and Ben Mennem are joining Lewis Moody and a team of 20 in the ultimate triathlon - a 225km journey from the Gorge du Verdon to Monaco on foot, Kayak and Bike - a feat made particularly tough by the fact that James hasn't been spotted riding a bike for at least 20 years.
Training has begun in earnest, and we'd really love you to support this amazing cause. As you may know, the Lewis Moody Foundation is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally.
The money raised from this mega-tri will fund a pioneering clinical trial called PNET5, which aims to tailor treatments for children to improve their quality of life.
Many children with brain tumours will have to live the rest of their lives with the life limiting side effects from their aggressive chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment, including loss of balance, blindness or severe problems with hearing.
£2,000 can cover the cost for a child with a medulloblastoma brain tumour to have a biomarker test to see how aggressive their treatment will need to be. If they have a lower risk tumour they will be treated with a reduced dose of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which will have less impact on their overall quality of life.
The Lewis Moody Foundation relies 100% on voluntary donations and by the money raised through these team challenges. We are so proud to be supporting this amazing cause, and hope that you will join us in helping to tackle brain tumours.
