Story
On February 25th 2024 I am running the Brighton Half Marathon for Team Macmillan, in memory of my dad and in support of my mum. I lost my dad to a painful battle with cancer in 2021 just two weeks before my 18th birthday. His illness came as a massive shock to my family and I, and was something that I struggled to process and still do. Living with the knowledge that my dad was terminally ill was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.
On my birthday this year, my mum was also diagnosed with cancer. This was heartbreaking to hear and something that I’m struggling to come to terms with. I truly cannot believe this is all happening to me again. This is undoubtedly something that no one can prepare you for at just 20 years old, and I wouldn’t wish this pain upon anyone.
The last two years have been incredibly tough for me, losing my dad to the same disease that my mum is now fighting. This is the reason why I am so determined to run the half marathon, in support of a charity who does so much for people battling cancer.
My goal is to raise as much money as I can for Team Macmillan, as well as to get past the finish line… This will be a big task for me because I am most definitely not a natural runner!! So any support would be greatly appreciated to help motivate me to push through and get past that finish line!
Please support me in any way you can, either through donations or by cheering me along on the 25th❤️
