Story
Jumpstart the Yakima JVs! These volunteers have dedicated a year of their lives to serve with JVC Northwest. As such, they have committed to living the four values of Community, Simple Living, Social & Ecological Justice, and Spirituality/Reflection. Your gift goes into a communal pool which helps support their formation and keep fees low for the nonprofits they serve. Help them reach their goal of receiving at least 12 donations of any amount to their page!
Meet the Yakima JVs:
Madeline (she/her) is from Falmouth, ME and will be serving as a Legal Rights Educator with Norwest Justice Project.
"I serve because I have a strong desire to improve the lives of people around me. I want to make deep connections through hands-on experience and engagement in my new community as a JV. I hope to better understand the injustices that our most vulnerable communities are subjected to and gather the tools to remedy them."
Bill (he/him) is from South Bend, IN and will be serving as an Outreach and Engagement Specialist with Cowiche Canyon Conservancy.
"I serve because I think it is important to give back after being given so much all my life, and I am passionate about working on environmental issues."
Sam (he/him) is from Louisville, KY and will be serving as a Food Bank Outreach Specialist with Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington (Yakima).
"I serve because it is important to provide for your community. I have been fortunate to have a peaceful, fulfilling upbringing and would like to give back to those who do not have life's basic resources or who are struggling. JVC Northwest is a great opportunity to help those in need as well as experience valuable personal growth."
Enya (she/her) is from Mills River, NC and will be serving as an Engagement Coordinator with Rod's House.
"I serve because I love people. Connecting with others and showing them that I care gives me so much joy!"
