Story
Everyone knows someone affected by dementia, my family were significantly impacted when my grandma was diagnosed. Dementia turns people’s worlds upside down and people lose so much of themselves to the condition. People lose their cognitive functions, their memory and their independence. There is still so much to be discovered and so I am walking to raise money for one of the leading charities in dementia research, The Alzheimer’s Society. Their aim is to develop a deeper understanding of the underlying causes of the condition, to improve diagnosis and care, to discover ways to prevent dementia and to search for a cure. This is a fantastic cause and any money raised could significantly improve the quality of life for nearly 1 million people living with dementia in the UK today.
