TCS New York City Marathon 2019 · 3 November 2019 ·
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.
I am running the New York City marathon in memory of grandmother, my Yiayia Eleni who passed away suddenly from a heart attack in 2008.
I signed up to the ballot never really expecting to get a place. When I found out I had ‘won’ a place I was terrified. I had never run for a minute let alone 26.2 miles. But I was up for the challenge! And slowly but surely I started to build up my running. For me this has truly been from couch to marathon!
After many miles of running, I decided that I wanted to run in memory of my Yiayia.
The first time I ever visited New York was at 17 on a school trip. My Yiayia and I had spent months chatting about the amazing things I would see and learn and she was as excited as I was about the trip to NYC. Sadly she died suddenly just one month before the trip and I never had the chance to tell her what a wonderful experience it was for me. This time I will be running the streets of New York City in her memory and raising money for the BHF with every step.
Please join me in raising as much as we can!
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
