Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am delighted to report that I successfully completed two Fancy Dress Sponsored Horse Rides on 18th and 20th October 2020. It's not too late to donate and it would be fantastic to reach my target.
Here is a bit more information about our Charity Ride. Caroline and I have organised the Sponsored Ride since 1977 when we were still in Pony Club. We were thrilled that our first ride raised £550 for Cancer Research. Since then the ride has gone from strength to strength and hundreds of thousands of pounds has been raised for many different charities. The Ride used to be a huge event and in 1988 250 horses took part and over £25,000 was raised for the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. When Foot and Mouth struck in 2001 the format of the ride had to change and it became exclusively for WVS horses. It is the longest running, most successful sponsored ride in the country, raising over £1 million over the years. We were worried that this year due to Covid the ride may not be able to take place and the charities would have missed out but we have made adjustments to the format and we are going ahead as planned.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. So many of my family and friends have been affected by cancer and they provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. They never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
