Story
Landsker Ministry Area was inaugurated just before lockdown and it seemed an impossible task to bring such a spread out group of 15 churches, from the mountain to the sea together, into one community. The group was kept together during lockdown through a daily email shared by Rev Kingsley Taylor and the LMA Council was formed during this time because of the internet and the willingness of people to be involved in their community. Now that the restrictions have all been lifted, we wondered how we would physically stay as one group. So what we decided to do was to take a large cross and walk from church to church, taking it in turn to all of our 15 churches - so 'The way of the Cross Grand Tour' took form. Beginning with a service of Holy Communion at St Clydai, Clydey at 6pm on Sunday 1st May, the cross will then be walked from church to church every Monday until it finally reaches St Margarets in Pendine on 1st August - a total walk of 64 miles. Rev Kinglsey Taylor will walk every section and he will be joined and supported by members of the LMA congregations along the way.
As well as bringing our churches together, we are want to use the Tour to provide our support to the communities of Ukraine who are suffering so horribly in this intense conflict. Heavy shelling and air strikes across Ukraine have had devastating consequences. Already, over four million people have fled their homes to escape intense conflict in Ukraine. Leaving behind loved ones, livelihoods and almost everything they own, they need shelter, food, and water. People are losing their homes and lives, essential services like water and healthcare have been hit and temperatures have dropped below zero. Please support our Tour to help reach those in urgent need in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
With your help our community can support ActionAid and the DEC in scaling up their response and help communities in Ukraine to survive the conflict and to rebuild when it is finally over, to help families to stay warm and protect women and girls. - £10 could provide essential hygiene supplies for 1person for one month - £50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm - £100 could provide emergency food for 2 families for one month
