Story
On 22 April 2007, 17 hardy soles will be putting their bodies (and sense of dignity) on the line to endeavour to do what no man has done before. In doing so, and if successful, they’ll be putting their names in the history books and will rank alongside Great British heroes such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes (‘the world's greatest living explorer’), Elen MacArthur (‘the fastest ever sailor to complete a solo non-stop circumnavigation of the globe’), and Thomas Blackthorne (‘the greatest weight lifted with a human tongue’).
And how will they do this I hear your cry?
Stage 1 – Dress up as a bunch of convicts (see image left)
Stage 2 – Chain the 17 of us together (yes, 17 of us!)
Stage 3 – Run the 26.2 cramp inducing miles of the London Marathon (in case you forgot we’ll all be chained together)
In doing so we will officially earn ourselves a place in the Guinness World Records for ‘Most Linked Runners to Complete a Marathon’.
More importantly, and this is where you come in, we are breaking this record in order to raise as much as possible for charity. Our target is a massive, but achievable, £35,000 in total so please give as generously as you can.
Thank you all for your support,
The World Record Breaking Team 2007
PS As a team, all money raised is being split between two equally fantastic charities – Shelter and Dreams Come True. If you would prefer to donate towards Dreams Come True then please go to our other site www.justgiving.com/worldrecorddct
PPS Also, don’t forget to select the gift aid option when donating – by doing so Shelter will receive a further 28% at no extra cost to you.
