Story

Last year, COVID impacted all of us in different ways. For my family, we also had to come to terms with the shocking news that my Grandad had Pancreatic Cancer. Since July, he has been undergoing treatment and chemotherapy and has been looked after by my Nanny and Dad. To this day, he continues to take the fight to cancer determined to live each day as positively as he can. As if one cancer fight wasn't hard enough, Nanny was also diagnosed with Breast Cancer in December and she now joins Grandad in the fight together and is being equally strong and positive. Their courage has been an inspiration to us all and the support and love they have received from family and friends has been a source of great strength for them both.

The silver lining to lockdown meant that I could home school at Dads helping him out when I could and spend precious time with Nanny and Grandad. Over the past year, Dad has sought the support and advice of Macmillan Cancer Support and I decided that I would like to raise money for them, a cause extremely close to our Family's hearts. Now that lockdown has lifted, I have decided to cycle from my mums home in Oxfordshire to my Dads in Perranporth, Cornwall during half term on 31 May. Hopefully by cycling we can surprise Nanny and Grandad instead of a drive up in the car! Aswell as the surprise for them both, by getting on the bike I know it will take the anxiety off Dads shoulders from not being around while he picks me up in the car.

I hope to be able to raise £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support and would be extremely grateful for your support.
