After 2 years hiatus, we’re back for a second edition of our Women in Beer Festival!
On Sunday 23rd October we will team up with our friends at the Good Time Running Club to raise funds for WiB Fest’s charity partner Scottish Women’s Aid.
Starting at the Portobello Tap (87 Portobello High St) at 14:00 there will be a 3km and 5km route finishing at back at the pub for a well- deserved post run refreshment!
This event is open to all genders and abilities.
Thank you for your donations.
About Scottish Women’s Aid:
Scottish Women’s Aid is the lead organisation in Scotland working to end domestic abuse. SWA supports a network of over 30 local Women’s Aid services across the country who provide life-saving, life-changing support everyday to women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse – including emergency refuge accommodation, emotional support, children’s programmes and court advocacy. SWA also operates Scotland’s 24/7 Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline, offering a lifeline and support to people any time of the day or night over the phone, email and web chat. We also campaign relentlessly for change at a national level – making the case for policies and legislation that will improve the lives of those who have experienced domestic abuse. At the moment, the cost of living crisis is giving abusers more tools to harm and isolate women and children. The cost of leaving was already immense, and now women are looking at even further financial uncertainty if they do choose to leave. Our work in the coming months will be focused on this key area, and we greatly appreciate the efforts of the Women in Beer Festival in helping us carry out that vital work.
