Story

Women On the Move Against Cancer is administered by the Essex Community Foundation.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and for your kind donation. We are very grateful for your support. WOMAC is made up of volunteers, all working in the automotive industry who raise money every year for cancer charities. For more details please visit www.womac.co.uk.

WOMAC’s chosen charity for 2020 is Dimbleby Cancer Care.

The Dimbleby Macmillan Support Centre is a service based at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. As part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, it offers specialist information and support to local people affected by cancer.

Dealing with a cancer diagnosis can be difficult not only for the person with cancer, but for their family and friends as well. Finding the right information or the right person to talk to can often make living with cancer that bit easier. The service is staffed two days per week by a cancer information clinical nurse specialist (CNS), offering a range of
information on all aspects of living with cancer (some resources are available in a range of languages and are suitable for people with special needs).

Complementary therapies including clinical aromatherapy and reflexology, relaxation and stress management workshops, a psychological therapies service and a monthly patient support
group are also provided by the service. And they are supported by a team of dedicated volunteers.
