Story
The railway has a great history of employees banding together to raise money for worthy causes. As we exit two years of Pandemic restrictions a team of West Midlands Trains Managers (and a Chiltern Railways adoptee) have signed up to support Railway Children for an epic two day Coast to Coast cycle challenge from Whitehaven to Whitley Bay.
A route taking in the epic scenery - and gradients - of the Northern Pennines and the Lake District. With over 1km of climbing per day, it really is a huge challenge, but one we are all willing to train for and deliver against whilst raising as much money as possible for a charity that is close to our hearts. Every year thousands of children across the UK, India and East Africa run away or are forced to leave homes that have become unbearable through poverty, abuse, violence and neglect. Railway Children provide protection and opportunity for children with nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to.
Given the challenges we all face in a time of great uncertainty we certainly don't take support for granted. However if you are able to make a donation it would be gratefully received, and I promise we will pay back in blood, sweat and tears - hopefully with more emphasis on the 'Sweat'! It really is as simple as clicking on the link and following a few easy steps.
Keep checking in as well, as we'll keep the main team page updated with photos and details of what we have been up to as the start date gets closer.
