This appeal page has now expired. Very many thanks for all your donations.
*We are still urgently raising fund for our work in Borneo. Please visit World Land Trust's New Orang-utan Appeal*
Because of the world demand for Palm Oil, the forests of Borneo are disappearing before our eyes. This is bad news for Orang-utans and the other wildlife, including Pygmy Elephant, Malayan Sun-bears and Proboscis Monkey that depend on these forests for their survival. It is thought that Orang-utan populations have halved over the last 20 years and they are now seriously threatened with extinction.

This is a new, urgent appeal, following on from the first Orang-utan Appeal of 2008, which successfully raised the £343,000 needed to purchase and protect 222 acres (90 ha) of forest in Kinabatangan. In a bid to save a vital area of forest, WLT is working with local partner organisation in Borneo, LEAP Conservancy. We urgently need to raise funds for the purchase and protection of forest habitat for Orang-utans and other wildlife in the Kinabatangan area of Malaysian Borneo.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our Orang-utan Appeals so far and please keep up your support to save more Orang-utans for the future.
