Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On June 8th 50 members of The Paul Lavelle foundation and their friends, are cycling over 4 days to The Battlefields of The Somme in France. They are raising money for the foundation and a selected ex forces charity, soon to be named, whilst raising awareness of male domestic abuse along our journey.
The reason we chose the Somme was that for a few years a couple of us had always planned to travel there one November to pay our respects to the fallen. There is something that touches many about The Somme, the heartbreak and the working class element to this awful war.
Paul always wanted to visit Le Somme but sadly we never made it there with him. Now we are going to make the journey and ride there for him.
All proceeds will go towards our foundation service team helping abused males & their families and also we have chosen Alder Hey children's hospital and Claire House as beneficiaries, these places hold so much in the heart and also Standing Tall Foundation a truly inspirational charity, we wanted to give something back and this is what we are about 💙
Many of the cyclists where close friends of Paul and are now experienced riders, something that is down to the loss of Paul and the formation of the foundation. This is the first major challenge for many of the cyclists, and this promises to be just that. More importantly this will be a lifetime experience of making memories and smiles in Paul's name. From the day we lost Paul, the plan was, to keep his name on peoples lips and to create smiles and memories and inspire and help others along the way!
