Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2018 Davie was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma and life changed overnight. Clic Sargent social worker Laura Park provided emotional and financial support throughout our stay in Royal Aberdeen Childrens Hospital. We will be forever grateful and are so glad to be able to give a little back now that Davie had recovered.
Graham, Gillian, Marjory, Roselyn, Matt, Arianne, Ian, Kira, Murdo, Eileen, Johan, Mary, Kristina, Ruby, Jan, Crystal, Lauree-Ann and Paul are going to cover 2734 miles in 50 days taking wis up to the 21st December!
RACE TO THE NORTH POLE BY CHRISTMAS EVE – CLIC SARGENT NEED YOU!
Help CLIC Sargent make sure that children and young people with Cancer get the support they need this Christmas.
Decorating the tree, wrapping presents, playing games, taking a freshly baked mince pie out of the oven for Santa; Christmas is all about spending time at home with the people we love and cherish the most.
But what if that wasn’t possible? Imagine not being with your child on Christmas day. Imagine that your child is sat on a hospital ward, hundreds of miles away from home, scared and lonely. Hotels and restaurants are all closed due to coronavirus and even after driving for hours on the motorway, you are only allowed to visit your child for a few precious moments.
Last Christmas, CLIC Sargent supported the family of a five year old boy who had been diagnosed with cancer. His Dad was self-employed and had to give up work to care for him and his two siblings meaning that the family were on a very low income. The family were also having to travel to the hospital on a daily basis (65 mile round trip) for radiotherapy for two weeks in December and were struggling to manage the cost of Christmas.
This is the harsh reality that so many children and young people are facing this Christmas. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Their CLIC Sargent Social Worker supported the family by applying for charitable grants to assist with debt, liaising with housing to ensure that the family weren’t evicted and obtaining Christmas presents for the children. This support ensured that their son attended all his radiotherapy appointments, helped to ease some of the financial pressure at such an expensive time for the family, helped the family to remain in their home and ensured that the family had an enjoyable Christmas together.
You can help to Pay for a Month of a CLIC Sargent Social Worker, providing practical, emotional and financial support, so that neither Cancer nor Coronavirus can cancel Christmas for children and young people and their families.
Race to the North Pole
