Story

My name is Will White and I turned 18 on the 7th of October. Three days later (after 4+ months of confusion and investigations), I was diagnosed with primary bone cancer (osteosarcoma) due to a hard lump below my left knee (and five hours of MRI scans!).

This is a cancer most commonly affecting teenagers and young adults due to the higher risk of bone growth becoming abnormal. It affects up to 200 young people in the UK per year, meaning it is extremely rare. If you want to find out more about it, please go to www.sarcoma.org.uk. You can also get support at www.macmillan.org.uk.

I also have hEDS, which has made the fight so far extremely painful and exhausting. I went from planning to study Architecture at uni to having to leave Sixth Form within six months. On top of this, I'm transgender (FTM)...I like to be complicated, apparently, but it does mean I've learnt how to get through challenges :)

I am being treated by the various teams at the Oxford Hospitals (NHS), which is additionally funded by the Oxford Hospitals Charity. I have amazing support around me from every angle, but it wouldn't be possible without the sarcoma and teenage cancer teams helping me, and the support for them comes from funding. I know a lot of people don't know what to do or how to help me; so (if you want to), please consider making a donation to this justgiving page, which will make sure your donation goes straight to the service. Help them to help me, and help me to thank them :)

The NHS is already struggling beyond belief—donations like yours help chronically ill people, like me, to get the treatment we need. Thank you :)
