Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I am doing the Wolf Run in Warwickshire on 9th April 2016... it is a 10km run with obstacles, all in the woods!
Here is a bit about why I am doing this run for the Deafax app Signly (http://signly.co):
I have been volunteering alongside Deafax for over a year now, and began working to explore how to make music accessible to Deaf people. I always get asked, "How can Deaf people hear music?" When really it is not all about listening to it, you can feel it, sense it, and see it. Deafax provides 'Visual Music' workshops, which I also help out with, and this gives Deaf people a chance to learn about music, especially if they have been led to believe that music is not accessible to them.
Did you know:
- One in six of the population has some form of deafness
- The British Deaf Association states that up to 250,000 people use some sign language in their daily life.
- An undiagnosed deaf child aged 3 knows 25 words, compared to 700 words for hearing child.
- 3 children are born Deaf every week in the UK
So this is where the app Signly comes in. Everyone likes video, so we insert a smart layer of signed (or spoken/filmed) digital information onto the screen of a visitor's own mobile device to animate, translate and invigorate their experience by revealing information.

I hope that you will feel as strongly as I do about this cause and donate whatever you can, as every penny counts. Please share and ask your friends and family to help us out!
Big hugs,
Will
