Story
Last year, aged just 12, my world came crashing down around me. I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, was diagnosed with multiple Cavernous Malformations in my brain and the damage caused left me with unstable epilepsy. Prior to this I was a competent dinghy sailor, competing both nationally and internationally, but everything stopped. Medics advised against me sailing and life became very dark... that was until Kat came along.
Kat is my specialist Roald Dahl Nurse. She has been amazing. She showed me a way out of the darkness, believed in my ability rather than my disability and has been so much more than just a nurse. She is everything from my caregiver, school advisor, emotional lynchpin, bonkers chatterbox and fierce advocate (although her jokes are pretty poor)! When the door looks shut she either breaks it down or finds a new one. She has been the light for not only me but my whole family and I owe the charity so much... who knew the Roald Dahl Charity we’re behind such an amazing Nurses, providing seriously ill children with their own guardian angels! Please give whatever you can because it’s you that makes the difference for a seriously ill child. Thank you :)
