Hi!
My name is Will Cruddace, and work for CAFOD as the Community Participation Coordinator for Nottingham Diocese. I started my role in May 2022 having supported CAFOD throughout my life.
I love CAFOD and what we do because I believe the Caritas Network we are a part of (the second largest development network in the world, after only the United Nations) allows us to work with communities in a uniquely Christlike way. Being a part of Caritas means our work is delivered by local experts: local people who understand the contexts and struggles of the communities we work with in an authentic way. This means that we can truly walk with our global brothers and sisters, and allow them to become 'artisans of their own destiny' (Pope Paul VI).
Every Lent, CAFOD challenge individuals to walk 200km to help fight world poverty in our Big Lent Walk. This Lent, I am choosing to row my 200km in solidarity with James Pyne, a fisherman from Liberia. I have no experience of rowing whatsoever, so we will see how this goes!
Please watch James' story in his own words here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFWxJpczass
James' story began when he rowed 200km to start a new life for his family. I hope and pray that as I row 200km in solidarity with James, I will understand better the effort he went to to provide for his family. Please sponsor me so that more people like James will be able to overcome the challenges they face by working with CAFOD.
Please sponsor (and pray for) me!
