Story
Welcome to the Ual Machu Picchu 2022 campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst raising vital funds for Marie curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity.
Hi there, for anyone I haven’t met, my name is Willow McKenzie, I am 20 years old and currently studying Fine art, at Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London. A few months ago I was given the opportunity to take part in a once in a life time, fund raising event to trek to Peru’s very own Machu Picchu, to raise money for the Marie Curie charity.
Machu Picchu is the 15th century abandoned Inca Citadel, located in south Peru. It sits upon a 2,430 meter (7,970 ft) mountain ridge and is considered one of the most important Heritage sites in the world. The trek itself will be a 9 day expedition, 6 of which will be spent trekking up to Machu Picchu, but for what cause?
Marie Curie is an incredible charity that provides care and support for anyone facing terminal illness. Last year Marie Curie nurses cared for over 42,000 people and their families. Nurses work night and day providing care in people’s homes as well as inside one of their many hospices. Not only do they offer professional and specialist health care for free, but emotional and bereavement support for anyone involved. Marie Curie is working hard to make sure everyone gets the best end of life experience they possibly can.
By donating you are helping to provide essential care to anyone in the UK coming to the end of their life. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I know myself, the Marie Curie team and everyone they support are truly grateful, so thank you! Please feel free to forward this email on to anyone you think would be interested in contributing, and once again,
Thank you.Yours sincerely,
Willow.
