Story
After William's accident, 26th August 2016, we were transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital to get specialist care for him as it was clear he had done some serious damage, it wasn't clear however for 4 more days exactly what he had done. The end of the scooter's handle bars had gone into his abdomen at such an angle and force, he had split his pancreas in half and the 'juice' it would normally make to aid digestion, was pouring into his abdomen.
So far it's been 5 weeks and he's had 3 lots of surgery to date with more to come due to complications and the complexity of his injury. Having a room offered to us at Ronald McDonald House has been an amazing support and helped us as a family so much.
We didn't even know this amazing charity existed and so wanted to raise £5000, which is enough money to sponsor a room at Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham for 3 years and support families like ours and to spread the word.
The House offers a private bedroom with en-suite, access to a full kitchen, washing and drying facilities and all a 2 minute walk from Birmingham Children's Hospital - without this facility, we, and many others, would have been travelling great distances to visit our very sick children.
With the support of our many friends and families, we will be investigating challenges and activities to raise enough money to reach our target and ask for your support in doing this.
Thank you so much, Team Turner xx
