William's UK Wide Trek

UK Wide Trek · 29 July 2020
As some of you will know, I am in the process of moving across to England for a career change to teaching Computing to the next generation of amazing Computing Scientists in the Wolverhampton area!
Before I settle in completely, I am taking a few weeks to do various treks and challenges across Great Britain and I'd love to leave a parting gift to my beloved Ulster. I can think of no better cause than the Northern Irish Air Ambulance who provide a vital service to anyone who needs it. As well, if anything goes wrong (fingers crossed it doesn't) while I am doing this, I could be relying on an air ambulance, and in my past few trips up the Mournes, I've seen it in action.
The first set is in the north of England where I will be completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (the three highest mountains in the Yorkshire Dales within 12 hours) before moving across to the Lake District to climb Scafell Pike.
The week after, I will be moving down to Wales where I will again be climbing the three highest peaks within Wales: Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan (you might know this as the legendary Fan Dance), but over the course of the week...not all at once!
The final stage of my trek will be the incredible West Highland Way (96 miles along Loch Lomond and the Trossachs) from Milngavie (outside Glasgow) all the way to Fort William before ascending Ben Nevis (the highest mountain in the British Isles). The rest is just a warm up for this!
In between, I'll be sleeping in my car which has been converted to a caravan and funding the journey myself.
Please help me give a proper farewell to Northern Ireland by helping such a vital service!
