Story
I am one of the lucky ones - a survivor of cardiac arrest outside hospital. I am told the chances of surviving one of these is about 5% and I survived 3 as well as 2 more in intensive care. We can increase the chances of people surviving these events & supporting the BHF will help to achieve that goal. I have run 13 marathons since my cardiac arrests back in 2012 to equal the number I did before. It is still a massive endeavour and at 71 years old it doesn't get easier!
I am looking to run in Edinburgh in May and still have a bit of work to do. I recently ran the wonderful Great Welsh Marathon having had my second internal defibrillator fitted by a wonderful team at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford back in January. My training was therefore constrained and was further interrupted by getting Covid about a month before the GWM. Neverthelesss I got around in a time of 4 hours 36 minutes & I would love to get back under 4 hours 30 minutes in Edinburgh. A special thanks to all of you who have supported me on several occasions in my various runs. Your contributions do make a difference.
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
Thanks to everyone for reading my page and your fantastic support!
