Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you’ll know I withdrew from 2023 due to the sudden passing of my Dad, Andy. This obviously hit us as a family very hard and I was in no way able to think about completing 26 miles. However, I’m happy to say that in April ‘24 I will be running London Marathon for a second time. I will continue my fundraising for an important charity close to our hearts, and one that Dad lovingly supported - Crohn's and Colitis UK.
As many of you will know, in 2017, my wife Sal was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after symptoms quickly developed after the birth of our first son, Rafferty.
Within 18 months after multiple failed medications and hospital admissions, she underwent emergency life saving surgery to remove her bowel. The following 4 years have been a mixture of amazing times, with the arrival of Sonny and Cass but also a rocky road of further hospital stays, operations and complications.
Over half a million people in the UK are living with Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and there is currently no cure. It is an area of medicine that is massively under funded with much research and trials funded solely through charity donations.
Crohns and Colitis UK drive pioneering research, support newly diagnosed patients, strive to improve lives and are leading the fight against IBD. Their ultimate vision is to see a world free from Crohns and Colitis. Any amount you can donate to help this amazing cause would be massively appreciated and will give me a big boost when out training on these cold, wet nights!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
As our fundraising target has now been met, we are aiming to raise as much as possible for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. The charity very kindly deferred my place after our devastating news.
