Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've decided to run a half marathon to raise money for The National Autistic Society.
As many of you will know, I have two sons who have been diagnosed with autism. It's been a long and difficult journey for the whole family.
One of the many daily struggles they both face is dealing with people who misunderstand the challenges they face. That's not surprising, it was a steep learning curve for me as I tried to learn and understand how uniquely my sons see the world.
The National Autistic Society has done excellent work in the vital area of raising awareness and understanding of autism, and supporting autistic people and their families. We've seen first hand in the 4 years between our sons being diagnosed in how attitudes and understanding towards people with autism have changed, so this really works.
I felt it was time I gave something back so I'm going to lumber my way along the Great North Run and raise some money whilst doing it. Let's be honest, if my boys can face their challenges with the grace and humour that they do, I should be able to run for a while!!
If you do feel you can sponsor me please click the Donate button and give whatever you feel you can afford. I would really appreciate it. Your money will go towards important work. If not, thank you for reading this, and please do try to take the time to visit the National Autistic Society website to get an idea of the great work they do.
