Cotswold Way Challenge 2021 · 26 June 2021 ·
Hello Guys & Girls! I am starting to think this fitness malarkey has gone to my head. After successfully completing two half-marathons and becoming a certified hunk, I have now decided to run half of the Cotswold Way to support Cancer Research UK. I am currently looking to transform from Mo Farah into Dora the Explorer.
Everyone knows someone affected by cancer, and as 1 in 2 will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, it is essential to act now.
The primary reason I am running this race is for my dad and my family. In 2013, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with minor symptoms. This means a tumour that has spread to other organs, leaving my dad with a 12% survival rate at five years. My dad had twelve months of surgery and chemo, leaving him with a permanent colostomy, half a liver (it grows back!!!!) and 80% of his lungs (they don't grow back).
My awesome dad has been declared clear of disease for six years now and is working full-time for his own engineering consultancy.
Here are a few words from my dad: 'My family, friends and healthcare teams have all been fantastic in supporting me through some very self-centred and selfish times – I wouldn't be here now without all of them.'
Please donate to this fantastic cause and feel free to support me on the Cotswold Way when the time comes :). Let's beat cancer sooner!
