Story
I'm taking on my first marathon on April 23rd 2023. I'm running for The Brain Tumour charity after being part of the 'Peter's Park Pounders' team that raised money for the charity at the Royal Parks Half in 2019.
My Dad was diagnosed in 2018 and we were told he would live only 6 to 12 months. We are all SO HAPPY he's still with us. He was at both of my brothers' weddings in Aug and Oct 2021 and is well on the way to meeting not 1, but 2 grandchildren. I am very proud of him and he's been a fantastic Dad for all of my life (just a shame no wedding or children at my end, hey ho).
After a recent wobble in his health, I want to do something in my control to help. My family is very lucky to be able to afford great care for my Dad which - along with my BRILLIANT Mum - has helped sustain him for 4 years and counting. The vast majority of brain tumour-afflicted families are not so lucky, so I'm really trying to raise this money for them.
There's great Brain Tumour research and experimental technology that is released all the time in different parts of the world. One of these technologies my Dad has used to help push through his initial 6-12 month prognosis, and continue living life (even going on holidays!) to the full. I'm hoping the money raised will not only help fund research but also improve access to this kind of medicine.
I'm also doing this as a personal challenge: I'd like to beat the 3:28 set by my brother in the most recent London Marathon, and ideally come in under 3 hours. Then I will know I have 'earned' any donations you're able to give.
Thank you!

By running for The Brain Tumour Charity I'm playing a part in The Charity's movement to defeat brain tumours sooner - by moving faster and further to find a cure. #ACureCantWait
