Story
In April, some of our team have challenged themselves to move a 100 miles each throughout the month for charity. Whether we walk, swim or cycle, we our goal is to travel at least 2,021 miles and fundraise at least £500 for The Hygiene Bank.
Basic hygiene is not a privilege and everyone in the UK should have access to essential hygiene products. Senior Accountant, Manjit Takhar regularly volunteers with The Hygiene Bank, and as a firm, we want to recognise her hard work and raise awareness around the hygiene poverty crisis in the UK.
“My volunteering for The Hygiene Bank started last year, amid the pandemic, when a group of my friends were involved in a similar project in the Midlands and it inspired me to do something closer to home. I'm amazed by the generosity of our local community who donated bundles of hygiene products and we were able to pass them onto homeless shelters, food banks and youth trusts, who in turn are so grateful. We can make such a big difference to people with basic sanitation items that we take for granted. “
Galvanised by the belief that being clean is not a luxury or a privilege, The Hygiene Bank is a registered, people powered, grassroots charity grounded in community. We collect and re-distribute donated toiletries, hygiene, beauty and personal care items to UK charities, voluntary organisations and schools. These in turn are then given for free to their beneficiaries. Our passion stems from a sense of injustice: it's not right that anyone should face hygiene poverty in modern Britain.
