Story
Megan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was around 1 - this is a mobility disability that affects a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture.
Whoopsadaisy is a Brighton-based charity set up to help children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders experience the benefits of Conductive Education to enable them to lead a more independent life.
Conductive Education is a system of learning which helps to develop control and movement, social and daily living skills and language skills and also shows parents/carers how to help their children at home.
Everything was overwhelming when we first got her diagnosis and I remember taking Megan to her first ever session at Whoopsadaisy and feeling like we were home - I recognised lots of the equipment from what I'd seen online (Dr Google research!) and from following some of their other families on social media. I felt like I could take a breath as I knew we were somewhere that would be able to help her - and us.
Zsofia made us feel at ease straight away and no question was too big to ask; they definitely offer the parents emotional support here without realising it! It's amazing to have people in your corner who are are as invested in your child as you are; everyone is so ready to celebrate her progress - and we've seen amazing changes in Megan since we started.
We're so grateful for all the help we get from Whoopsadaisy and hopefully they can help families like us for many years to come.
Joe will be running 10k to help raise funds and awareness for Whoopsadaisy on the 10th April 2022, the day after Megan's second birthday, and Megan will be there to see Daddy running shouting "go, go,go!".
