Story

As proud patrons to the Charlton Athletic Community Trust the Whitecode Wanderers are, once again, participating in the Charlton Upbeats day.  This involves a 9 mile walk in the annual fund-raiser for the multi award-winning Charlton Upbeats Down's Syndrome football team.  It's a brilliant day and cause and we would appreciate any assistance in reaching - and exceeding - our target.

Join Derek Hales, Mike Flanagan and a host of other Charlton legends to walk the 9 miles from Charlton’s training ground in New Eltham to the Valley before Charlton’s home game against Southend United in aid of the Charlton Upbeats.

The funds raised ensure that the The Upbeats programme can continue to run, giving further opportunities to these talented Down's Syndrome footballers. The programme relies solely on individual donors and sponsors and last year the day raised £37,000

Starting at Charlton’s Sparrows Lane training ground at 9am, walkers will receive breakfast pastries, teas/coffees and t-shirts before setting off and trekking through Eltham, Shooters Hill, Greenwich and Charlton to The Valley - the home of football!

The national Down's Syndrome champions will then take on Albion in the Community's Down's syndrome team before Charlton Athletic take on Southend United.
