Story
Education is key to refugees building better futures but there are huge barriers, such as the high cost and gender inequality, that stop many refugees from attending university, vocational training or other further education. Just 3% of refugees are currently enrolled in higher education against a global average of 37% as a result. Higher education gives refugees the tools and knowledge they need to improve their employment prospects, launch their own businesses and increase self-reliance, but the benefits are also far-reaching, spreading into their own and their host communities.
This is why UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is marking its 70th Anniversary in 2021 by committing to fund 70 refugee scholarships, giving talented young refugees a chance to Aim Higher.
WeWork is proud to be supporting UNHCR’s Aiming Higher campaign to fund scholarships for young refugees, kicking-off with a £5,000 donation. Join us by donating today and together we can reach our target of £10,000. This will mean that we will help four refugee scholars start their higher education for one year.
Together, we can make a difference.
