Story
We lost our lovely mum far too early, In May 2021. We still haven't been given all information which lead to her death, and we are struggling having unknown "Sudden Adult Death Syndrome" on her final documents and fighting to get a little more insight into her final hours as we weren’t allowed to visit her in hospital due to covid restrictions. We miss her everyday, so for her Birthday this year we are running a half marathon in her memory. As she was generally fit, healthy, into her sports and ridiculously competitive (those who knew her will understand!!!!!), this race seemed a fitting tribute. Our Mum was kind, beautiful and a total daredevil and this condition (Dystonia) took so much life from her as it developed. Our Mum was slowly having to give up many of her favourite activities, as well as work due to the uncontrollable tremors in her neck. Not that she would ever let anyone know and would push herself daily to get up and go.
We are running the Weston Super Half for our dear late Mum and trying to raise money and awareness of this charity. It isn't very well known, and the charity often gets overlooked, so we would like to get some donations to help them with their research to help other people suffer less in the future. Over 100,000 people in the UK are affected by Dystonia, which is a neurological condition presenting with uncontrollable and sometimes painful muscle spasms. Dystonia is a lifelong condition that affects both adults and children that currently has no cure.
Please donate and watch Emily & Sophie ruin their feet on Weston beach for charity!!
