Story
In April 2022 I will be walking the West Highland Way to raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity. All funds donated will go directly to the Beatson Cancer Charity.
In August 2020, in the height of lockdown #1, I was diagnosed with advanced neck and throat cancer. This diagnosis was delayed by approximately 4 months due to the pandemic, so we had to move fast. I attended the Beatson in Glasgow every day for an intensive 6 week course of Radiotherapy and, as they’re nice like that, they agreed to throw in a couple of courses of Chemotherapy also. The good news is that the treatment was successful and (along with a removed Lymph Node) I am now cancer free.
During this traumatic time, the team in the Beatson looked after me so very well I feel that I need to give something back. Every day they were completely professional but over and above that they were happy, smiling, supportive and just generally great. All of this while wearing full PPE and dealing with some very sick people. If you could donate whatever you can afford, I would be most grateful, every penny that you do will go directly to this great charity to deliver an innovative and patient-focused approach to cancer care whilst changing the lives of those affected by the disease every day.
The West Highland Way is a linear long-distance route in Scotland. It is 154 km long, running from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, with an element of hill walking in the route. The trail, which opened in 1980, was Scotland's first officially designated Long Distance Route, and is now designated by NatureScot as one of Scotland's Great Trails.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, please share and donate if possible.
