Story
I'm running the London 10K on the 11th July 2010 to raise money for the excellent Cambodia Trust.
I visited Cambodia in 2005 and genuinely think it is one of the most wonderful places on earth. You can read about how it all on my old blog right here and here.
Helping children with disabilities
(scroll down to read my training blog)
98% of kids with disabilities in the developing world receive no education whatsoever. In the words of the Reverend Tim Westwood, that just don't make no sense.
The Cambodia Trust spends its money helping people with disabilities receive the treatment and then help needed to get education and work. They work in several countries affected by conflict, not just Cambodia.
I know JustGiving pages are two-a-penny these days but if you have even a little bit to spare, I would be hugely grateful.
Gift Aid
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
7th June :: 8.1k
Wow, just hit the 8k barrier for the first time...in my life actually. Not sure I've ever ran that far before! Put together this route up from Balham round Clapham Common and back. Perfect weather - cloudy, warm with a cool breeze. Somehow I'm not in pain. Sure that'll come when I wake up tomorrow.....
So that's 80% of the way there, with just over 4 weeks to go. C'mon Westbrook, be the jedi!
25th May :: 5.5k
Today I upped my run to 5.5k, in what must be the longest I have ever run in a single go. It's a loop around Wandsworth Common in South London and takes me past the Academy for Live Performance and a memorial to a train crash. Nice.
18th May :: 3.9k
New route - for the next week I'm running around Tooting Bec Common instead of Wandsworth Common. Lesson number one: don't wear boxers with loose elastic when running. I spent the majority of the run this morning with my hands down my callards.
