We provide care and treatment to help more people survive cancer

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our page.

We are friends who will be walking 15 miles along the
towpath from Chelmsford to Heybridge Basin on 15th April 2023 in memory of Wendy and to raise funds for research into Thymic Cancer.

I became aware of the condition after I met Sarah Bennett
through golf and learned of Wendy’s story and courageous two-year battle which she sadly lost in 2018. This was just three months after Wendy played in a golf charity day to help raise funds for Thymic Cancer.

I listened to Wendy’s compelling radio interview about her
diagnosis and her desire to help others. I was not only touched by Wendy’s passion and determination to leave a legacy to help raise funds for research but also Sarah’s drive to continue to see her friends wishes through.

I love the outdoors and walking and no matter what your background, the shared walking experience always brings people together so, in honour of Wendy, Sarah and I invite you to support our fifteen mile walk on April 15th 2023, which is coincidently named ‘WENDYS EASTER WALK’.

Any donation, no matter how small, will help vital research
into this rare form of cancer.

Once again, many thanks for your support,

Deb & Sarah

We do this because we know each person and every cancer is unique - we don’t want to treat them all the same. Guy’s is the leading UK provider of care and treatment for people with cancer and we’re dedicated to helping patients navigate what can be the most challenging time of their lives. With all our services located under one roof within our bright and welcoming Cancer Centre, we’re able to offer seamless care every step of the way, from diagnosis, through treatment, and after, in an environment that doesn’t feel like a traditional hospital. We know that the landscape of cancer is changing. More people are being affected, but we’re at an exciting point in time when promising new therapies are being developed and research breakthroughs are waiting to be made. It’s crucial that we continue to fund the innovative research, treatment and exceptional care that takes place at Guy’s to ensure we keep going above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide as we help more people cope with and survive cancer.
