I'm participating in the Cycletta South 40K Cycle Challenge (my first ever cycle event) on 11th September, 2011, to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support, in memory of my dear Dad who sadly lost his battle with Cancer in February 2006.  11th September was my beloved Dad's birthday, and I'm hoping that by entering this event I can help to raise money for this very worthy cause - most of us at some point in our lives will either be touched ourselves, or have a family member, friend or know someone who will need treatment / care for cancer so it's important that we continue to raise money to care for those who require treatment and continue to look for cures.  

My Dad, Michael Greany, was diagnosed with cancer of the nose - he had to have his nose removed, and endure a number of major surgeries to re-build his nose, during this time he found a lump in his neck, and the diagnosis found more cancer, for which he had to undergo further major surgery - sadly despite many major surgeries, he lost his battle with cancer in February 2006, but during his diagnosis and treatment my family and I met the most amazing professionals who never allowed us to give up hope and helped us to look after Dad and keep him as comfortable as possible - much of which is thanks to the amazing fund raising efforts of many before me - so please, if you are able, donate what ever you can, even the smallest donations can provide valuable funds.
