Story
In July 2017 life turned upside down for us when mum fell over, banged her head and died. Dad never really recovered from the loss and in less than a year was diagnosed with 2 terminal cancers. I gave up work and chose to care for him through 6 weeks of radiotherapy and the impact of that.
The worst of the 2 cancers was in his face and jaw and had developed under lichenplanus. He struggled with eating and his recovery wasn't strong or good. In the last 6 weeks of his life carers from the hospice visited daily and then 2x and 3x a day. They were amazing, absolute angels. They enabled me to keep dad at home under his beloved family clock all the way to his death on the 11th of August 2019.
Without the hospice and our live in carer who came at the end, Terri, I would never have coped. I couldn't have provided him with the dignity he deserved without them and at the very end they helped me to be a daughter again.
I miss my mum and dad every day.
My aim is the run a ridiculous marathon thing to encourage people to give generously. I want to pay the hospice back for the care they gave my dad, so they can care for your relatives if you ever need them.
