Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page I hope you will read our story and support our cause. I am actually enjoying the running!!!
Each year the employees at The Shepton Mallet Cider Mill nominate a charity to fundraise for. This year the chosen charity is CLIC Sargent which is close to the hearts of our employees especially following the diagnosis of one of our colleagues sons with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
To boost the fundraising myself and three brave colleagues are in training for this year’s Bristol Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday 11th September.
We are a determined quartet and are spurned on by the chance to raise money for CLIC Sargent, the children’s cancer charity.
It might be the race’s 23rd anniversary, but for the others it is a first attempt at anything on this scale. Tony Teall, instigated the idea because of his “mid-life crisis” and just wants to complete the 13.1 miles. Diane Abbott and I will shortly be celebrating ‘significant’ birthdays and see this race as a real personal milestone. Katie Pearce has run before and is using her previous experience to offer invaluable training hints and tips – she has also promised to run back when she has finished her race to help the others along.
This is my second official half marathon (10 years apart) and probably my last - to be honest I’m terrified but enjoying the training, seeing myself improve day by day, (body and mind) Diane and I are training together, so we are always encouraging each other. The best motivation is the raising of money for such a worthwhile charity, especially as it’s chosen by the Cider Mill employees”.
