Story
Wendy is currently suffering from deterioration of her spine that has resulted in partially losing control of arms and legs. As a result she is currently confined to a downstairs bedroom and needs a wheelchair to get around. To help with rehabilitation Wendy acquired a pedalling machine and now does regular 'cycling' sessions.
On hearing that Wendy is ‘cycling’ up to 5 or even 10 kilometres each day, three of Wendy’s grandchildren suggested that she undertake a sponsored cycle ride from her home in Dorking to their home near Reading … a notional distance of 80 kilometres.
Grandsons Beau, Dylan and Laurie each hoped that Granny Wendy would raise funds to support their individual choices of campaigns to save orangutans, wolves and tigers respectively. In conversation with the charity ‘Born Free’ we found that funds raised could be directed to all three species!
Wendy says, “With your support I look forward to ‘cycling’ from Dorking to Reading: it will speed my recovery but, more importantly, it will raise funds to help rescue these three endangered species that are so important to Beau, Dylan and Laurie. Thank you.”
