Story
If you should ask me what makes me proud to be part of DCC it would have to be its values. We are a family. We love, support and respect each other. We laugh together and sometimes we may even cry together. We are so fortunate to have wonderful families and members at DCC, many of whom have become precious friends. Last year during lock down one of our community, Wendy Pound was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour and sadly passed away a few months later, aged 53. Many of you will personally know Andy, Wendy’s husband and their 3 children, Rachel, Hannah and Matt.
In addition to our Just Giving Page we will be holding a memorial cricket match at DCC, please see our face book page for further details.
A personal message from Andy Pound, "As many of you will know my wife Wendy sadly passed away in October last year from a brain tumour. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I've included information about Brain Tumour Research below".
Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. We are building a network of experts in sustainable research at dedicated Centres of Excellence whilst influencing the Government and larger cancer charities to invest more nationally.
We are the only national charity in the UK that is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours and we are a leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer.
Help us fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
