We provide care at the hospice and at home to children in the Thames Valley region

Story

I am running this years London Marathon for Helen & Douglas House Hospice  for Children and Young Adults.  It is a registered hospice charity based in Oxford, England, providing palliative, respite, end-of-life and bereavement care to life-limited children and young adults, and their families.

I am doing this in memory of Thomas Laurie who was born with a rare condition, Cockayne Syndrome.  Cockayne Syndrome is a premature ageing disorder and is life limiting.

Sadly Thomas passed away on the 19th February 2014 surrounded by his loving family and the dedicated staff at Helen & Douglas House who have supported the Laurie family throughout.

I have been privileged to know Thomas and his family and I am honoured to be able to support this charity and the amazing work they do.
